I need to make an anouncement about the exercises of finding X and explaining(ten) indexical expressions on the grounds of your doing the journeying that your neighbor mapped out for you. I looked at many of them and finally decided xxxx, in talking with just several students, that the exercise is too tough. Nevertheless, the thing that's impressive is that so many persons did the best they could with it, and the best very p frequently amounted to finding examples of the expressions as I had described *****xx* them; finding examples of, quote, ), or finding an example of a biographical di indication, or finding "etc.". That kind of explanation of the expressions of the map, I thought was a good beginning but it really didn't get at what I thought I was ak asking and I'll assume then the responsibility for **m that. What I'll do then is to praise you for having done the exercise, you can get extra credit for that. Those of wwwxxx you who didn't do the exercise, for whatever reasons, are excused from the exercise.
Also, I think that the matter of trying to get at *j* the features of these occasioned maps by going through the topic of indexical expressions is unnecessarily a long way around, so I'm going to change the agenda somewhat. You may find that, having gotten a look at indexical expressions, it would be some use to you. But I'm not going to dig into that topic as I XE originally planned to do. Instead, I'm going to start directly with what kinds of things are found on the kapE maps. And than from that, I'll proceed to the big issue, the big thing that we're interested in. And that is, I'm going to try to take you through the argument that these maps are to be thought of that is to say, they consist of what I'm going to call "production accounts of a wayfinding journey". And that the map is a production account of a journey.... It's a wayfinding journey, it's not the journey to work, it's not the it's not journey on a train, nor by airplane, but the journey with the family to Disneyland and back, but it's a wayfinding journey. That's to say, it's a journey undertaken with the use of the map as a part of the journey, where it's being consulted as a structure with which the journeying is to get done.
So I'm going to be concerned with the map as a production account, an account of how to do the journey. I'll speak more specifically of that in a moment, and I'm going to claim about that production account that the how-to-do-a-journey is notationally displayed as a directed route. And I'm going to make a hell of alot of that, I'm going to discuss that the production account is displayed as a directed routet, I'm going to discuss its properties. Perhaps the central property of a production account, of this notationally displayed directed route, I'm going to speak of as the fact that the work of the wayfinding journey is provided. with a format. And it's that feature of format that we're going to be
